The Stories Product Line...

So The Sims: Castaway Stories is out now and so the official website has updated with all the Castaway info and downloads.

(The download links weren't working at the time of posting this, suppose some clever web designer managed to put up the info and preview pics for them before uploading the actual files.  Rolling Eyes  )

And I must say that of all the Sims Stories products so far...
That Castaway Stories looks to be the most impressive, due to it being so much more in-depth and unique compared to Life and Pet Stories, which were essentially watered down copies of the core Sim games but with a few Stories *exclusives*.

That said though, it does make me wonder why Maxis won't give people the option to add the Stories products to their core Sims 2 game.
I know it's supposedly "laptop friendly", however if there was a way to copy the stories, objects and new gameplay mechanics to The Sims 2, it would help advance The Sims 2 greatly, as if it was a full expansion.
And for EA financially, it would help shift more copies of the game to those that like to buy every add-on for the core series but not any of the spin-offs.
I mean surely that's possible... Allow it to work stand-alone *or* as an expansion... But unfortunately it's not.  Sad

Oh well, just wanted to randomly voice my opinon on the subject of the Stories product line.
Personally I do enjoy the series, the in-game stories themselves alone really help to vary gameplay by setting more goals and scenarios.
I just wish there was someway I could add the games as an extension to my core Sims 2 game, so that my main game has access to all the new objects, gameplay and scenarios being developed solely for the Sim Stories.

I have to agree with every single word. I would love to have thise objects and options from Stories in my Sims2 game, and that woulb be just great to find a way to get these somehow.

I agree too.

Would've been nice to have elements like the Way of the Paw or the contest objects from Pet Stories to be used in Sims2 Pets.

It might be easier to just import alot of our TS2 stuff into Stories.  I suspect we actually could use Stories as a shell base and throw most of TS2 in there, since they left so much coding in.  But the amount of work it would take to really do what we want, well who has the time.

I like Stories much better than TS2.  Being able to have set goals and such is better.  What they really need to do is to give us an editable version where we can create our own storylines whenever we wish.  Hacking it up is such a pain.  And it's very annoying that they've disabled the cheats for Storymode.

I like Castaway best of all so far.  The cut scenes are great.  And the amount of work they did on the objects is very worth it.  I love the singing stones.
