Default Paintings As Customs *Updated*I've put together a collection of all the default paintings that are packaged within Castaway Stories, so that they can be used as Custom Paintings instead.Therefore allowing you to choose which Castaway Stories painting you would like to paint as opposed to your Sim just painting one at random. To install simply copy the image files over to your Sims 2 custom paintings directory, usually located at: C:\Users\<Username>\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Paintings Then simply choose the painting that you want, as a Custom Painting in-game, like you normally would for a Custom Painting. 
You can paint on either the normal easel or the Castaway Stories easel. If you're looking for the Castaway Stories easel, you can find a great extracted version here: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com...df7a13172fd88ef&topic=11608.0 The paintings are designed for use on the Castaway Stories easel. However if you use them on a normal easel, you'll find the missing edges become transparent due to the file format. Although personally I think it makes the painting look like it has a nice glass finish... Try it out in-game and you'll see what I mean. 
Many thanks go to Havelock for originally extracting the Castaway Stories easel, which then allowed me to easily extract the individual textures from his files. 
On a related note, I'm trying to achieve the same with the Sims 2 built-in default paintings, since again I'd like the option to choose my painting, rather than leaving it to luck. However I can't seem to locate them within all the Sims 2 packages, so if anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated.
Update I've managed to locate the default easel textures within the package files of the Sims 2 and have updated the collection accordingly. It now contains both the default paintings included with the base game along with those included with Castaway Stories and as an additional bonus I've thrown in the two custom paints that came with Castaway Stories, for those that don't have it. The collection can now be downloaded here:http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LHW8ETW0 Now all that's left to find is the Grilled Cheese painting that's associated with the Paint Grilled Cheese option that came with FreeTime, which I'll add once I locate and extract it. |
