Well I've already got my 2 free items that weren't already included in a previous expansion or stuff pack.
However unfortunately purchased downloads are currently only available for US/Canada residents, so I can't really check out the rest of the content in my game.
So what does everyone else think of the latest addition to The Sims franchise? |

Oops, seems we both opened a thread for the store at the same time... only I did it in the Pack Announcements forum...
I got the 2 items also. Nothing special on the Exclusives section in my eyes. |

Well I like the look of the tv and cd player.
However I've always preferred functional items over trivial decorative items.
Hmm... I wonder if they're FreeTime compliant though...
I get the feeling they could be missing the Tinker, Movie and Custom Stations options... Like the recent Stuff Pack additions did... |

| That's a point. If they didn't do that with the Stuff Packs why should they with the Exclusives... |

Random note for anyone interested.
MaxoidShannon has now announced on the forums that the store's "Exclusive" items are to remain exclusive to the store, were designed for that purpose and will not be found in a later Expansion/Stuff Pack.
Just incase anyone was concerned in paying twice for any of the content. |

“Leave the gun. Take the cannoli.”
Seriously, why the heck does EAxis even need a paysite? Don’t they make anything off of their “partnerships” with Ford, H&M, IKEA, and who knows what else…? (Besides paying customers, that is...
What tugs at my gag reflex is the fact that there are actually some strange people on the BBS who love the idea. *Shudders.* Ew. |

From what I've read, the items offered on the Sims Store aren't FreeTime compliant, lacking the expansion's new functions.
However that's purely from what I've read, I'm still waiting on the store being opened up to Europe before I can even begin to check out the new content on offer at the store.
(And hoping that EA doesn't come up with a dodgy exchange rate for SimPoints per £ at the same time.) |

Well it seems people are having problems with items not showing in game after buying them (i was one of them) because not only do you need to have the EA down-loader installed you also need the sims 2 store installed (which installs with the 1st item you download @ 362 mb) to use these items in game. Without those 2 goodies installed you can't use them at all.
The objects can not be recolored (their textures are to tiny), the skins do not show up in body shop, cannot be recolored or added to sims created for sharing. The installers also install any patches you may need (even if you don't want them) & installs the new version of Securom on your computer without telling you it is doing so.
You also must run your game from the sims 2 store icon. When adding new stuff from the store to your game securom calls home to verify your game & your purchased content each & everytime you buy a new object, skin etc.
I have in the mean time written EA support & have asked for a refund back to my credit card.
Just one word.....MATY |

The Sims 2 Store is way overpriced by 75% for what a person is receiving and not worth the overall headache inflicted on the buyer to buy it. If this is the future to what EA and the Sims 3 will have to offer, I will be looking into other gaming alternatives.
There are many people life myself who do not have an internet connection at home, we just cannot afford it on minimum pay. We use internet cafes, libraries, friends computers, and our employers computers to connect to the internet.
While my employer allows me to use my work computer during non-working times, I am not allowed to install software on the machine. This means just like others, no game can be installed, along with download manager, and content installers.
Also 362 MB for a program for people on dial up, no way during a lunch break are you going to be able to download something like that even if your employer allowed it.
In the real world, we are not all rich and have high speed connections. I guess the company is not really interested in the loss of potential sales in the long run when people look elsewhere to spend their gaming dollars.
