Hi guys,

do any of you know how to change a residential lot into a Apartment building and/or hotel (or commercial).

I have that French Chateau that was made by Maxoid Monkey and I always thought that it would be great to have it as a hotel (and now apartments). I have split up the house into 5 apartments and change all the entry doors etc, but it is still not behaving the way it should.
can anyone of you guru's help me out?

To change the zone of a lot, simply enter a lot, then press and hold Ctrl+Shift+C to open the command window, then enter one of the following commands to get your desired lot:

changelotzoning residential
changelotzoning community
changelotzoning dorm
changelotzoning hotel
changelotzoning apartment

Just a couple of words of warning though.
Firstly the lot must not contain any playable Sims at the time of changing it.

Secondly and this might disappoint some of you, you cannot convert a beach lot into an apartment lot, doing so will simply corrupt the lot and cause some of the specific beach lot effects to break.

There are also possibilities to convert to secret society (University), greek house, vacation secret lot and hobby secret lot.

There are ways to lift the restrictions on building using them.
